Fire Extinguisher/Suppression System Service Technician

Fire Sprinkler Service Technician

Job Description

	•	Inspection, testing, and installation of fire sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, fire pumps, and clean agent systems at various industrial, commercial and institutional facilities in accordance with NFPA, local and state codes.
	•	Perform inspections, test and repair/replacement of fire hose and fire hydrants.
	•	Other duties may include the inspection of fire alarm systems, kitchen suppression systems and portable fire extinguishers.
	•	Generating reports based on inspection findings.

Qualifications

	•	Minimum 3-5 years experience with Fire Sprinkler System inspection, testing, troubleshooting and/or installation.
	•	A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
	•	Knowledge of all types of sprinkler systems to include wet, dry, deluge, pre-action systems, fire pumps and associated equipment.
	•	Plan reading and interpretation a plus.
	•	Valid New Jersey Driver’s license.
	•	Knowledge of NFPA standards a plus.
	•	Electrical knowledge with fire alarm panels a plus.
	•	Current NICET certification in Fire Sprinkler subfield a plus. Applicant will be required to obtain certification with 1st year of employment.

Fire Alarm Technician (Inspection and Installation)

Job Description

	•	Inspection, testing, and installation of fire alarm systems at commercial facilities in accordance with NFPA, local and state codes.
	•	Troubleshooting of fire alarm panels to determine origin of trouble and repair of the same.
	•	Programming of various panels subsequent to installation activities.
	•	Install Fire Alarm systems from a set of plans.
	•	Perform inspections, test and repair/replacement of Exit/Emergency Light Units.
	•	Other duties may include the inspection of portable fire extinguisher, kitchen suppression systems and various sprinkler systems.

Fire Sprinkler Designer

Job Description

	•	Prepare fire protection design drawings for commercial, institutional and industrial buildings in compliance with applicable codes for submittal & fabrication.
	•	Prepare hydraulic calculations and project submittal drawings.
	•	Conduct site surveys and attend coordination meetings.
	•	Generate cut lists for fabrication and material list for Operations.
	•	Generate permit and shop drawings.
	•	Maintain project drawings files, drawing library and associated records.
	•	Perform minor project management duties to include attending job meetings, writing change orders, RFI's and other job related correspondences.
	•	Interact with General Contractor on daily basis as needed per job.

Sprinklers and fixed systems are important elements in any good fire protection plan and practice, but they should not take place of hand portable extinguishers. Unlike sprinklers and fixed systems, fire extinguishers are quick, versatile and mobile. Alone each has their draw backs but together they make a good fire protection plan.
